James Maddison can miss out on World Cup ‘call-up’

About Football Express UK

James Maddison keeps knocking on the doors of Gareth Southgate even though Leicester City are struggling this season.

James Maddison wants to play for England in the World Cup

The English midfielder have scored five goals and provided two assists in nine appearances for the foxes this season. Maddison has been one of the best performers for Brendan Rogers. But still not enough as the foxes are in the relegation zone.

England manager Gareth Southgate was at the King Power stadium to attend their clash against Crystal Palace. James Maddison failed to impress the English boss after missing out on chances to give the foxes a lead in the game.

Maddison has made just one appearance for the three lions against Montenegro in 2019. Speaking on his chances for the England squad he said,

” England is a hard topic to talk about because I don’t want to say the wrong thing.”

He added,

” Of course you want to play for the country. I want that opportunity. I don’t feel like I’ve had the opportunity to showcase my talent at that level and I think I could have had an impact. The better I play for Leicester the more chance I’ve got.”

James Maddison might have missed the opportunity to impress the England manager one last time before the World Cup. With his concern for the World Cup call-cup, Maddison will look for an exit with just a year-and-a-half left with the foxes. Arsenal and Newcastle United have been linked with the 25-year-old midfielder.
