How Arsenal is looking to go big in the transfer window?

About Football Express UK

Arsenal is currently preparing to make a huge splash in the January transfer window. The Gunners is said to be ready with a 7-man transfer wishlist and are pushing to strengthen their squad.

This is according to reports coming from Daily Mirror. As per the reports, Arsenal has drawn a transfer plan to bring in a midfielder and a striker before the end of January.

The reports further specify that the Gunners have 5 midfielders they are monitoring, while they are also keeping eye on 2 strikers. This includes Dusan Vlahovic, who is the prime target for Arsenal in this winter transfer window.

ARSENAL READY FOR BUSINESS IN THE TRANSFER MARKET

It is no secret that Arsenal is undergoing a rebuild. The Gunners have been making good progress under manager Mikel Arteta and the club hierarchy are happy with the process. They are ready to back their manager and there are a few areas the club is looking to in particular.

The priority for Arteta looks to be the centre-forward position. Arsenal currently has Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in their squad. However, both Lacazette and Nketiah are out of contract in the summer and Aubameyang is out of favour after disciplinary issues.

Hence they need to bring a new centre-forward and Dusan Vlahovic is their prime target. The Serbian is in excellent form for Fiorentina in Seria A. However, the player seems to be not ready to move to Arsenal and is preferring for a move to a champions league side in the summer.

But if Arsenal did manage to convince the player, they will have to spend huge sums. The transfer fee alongside the reported salary demands means that the Gunners will have to have a financial outlay of around £150million for Vlahovic.

This is a huge sum and with other clubs also interested in Vlahovic, Arsenal could turn their attention to another striker. The alternative for the Gunners looks to be Jonathan David of Lille. The Canadian is currently the top scorer in Ligue 1 and is a cheaper and realistic target for them.

REINFORCEMENT IN THE MIDDLE

Apart from a striker, the club is also in search of a midfielder. The squad is stretched in the middle, especially with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny off to the AFCON. This leaves only a reckless Granit Xhaka and Sambi Lokonga in the central midfield role.

Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans and Bruno Guimaraes of Lyon are two main names on the wishlist. Arsenal is reported to have already made contacts with Guimaraes. However, the Brazilian seems to not be interested in the move and has expressed his wish to stay with Lyon.

Arsenal could try to land Tielamans, but he will not come cheap considering how important he is for Leicester. Danilo of Palmeiras is another player linked with Gunners, but he is more of a prospect than a quick fix. Georgino Wijnaldum is also a name floating around, with the former Liverpool star reportedly unhappy at PSG.

But a possible signing for Arsenal in this window looks to be Arthur Melo of Juventus. The player is keen on a switch and Arsenal will make a good option for him. However, for any move to happen, the Gunners will have to convince Juventus to part way with their star.

There are still days to go in the transfer window, but the London side will need to get moving. The fight for Champions League qualification will surely be intense, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and West Ham United all eyeing for the 4th place.

Bringing any of these players to the club will be a very good step in that direction. With Arsenal ready to break the bank in January expect new arrivals to land in London soon.
