Kieffer Moore is close to signing for Burnley

About Football Express UK

Kieffer Moore of Cardiff City has been considered as a potential replacement for Chris Wood by Burnley. The Clarets are looking forward to signing Kieffer Moore in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Burnley’s star striker Chris Wood has completed his move from Burnley to Newcastle United. The striker joined The Magpies in a £25million deal.

However, this leaves Sean Dyche’s side out of goal-scoring strikers. As a result, The Clarets are desperate to sign a striker in the winter transfer window.

According to GiveMeSport, Burnley has turned their attention to the Cardiff City striker as a potential replacement for Chris Wood.

Kieffer Moore started his senior career for Truro City. He signed for Cardiff City from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2020.

Moore has scored an impressive 20 Championship goals for the Bluebirds in the last campaign. He has 64 appearances for Cardiff City and has scored 25 goals.

Meanwhile, Steve Morison’s side is struggling in the EFL Championship. They currently sit in 20th place on the league table after a torrid season so far.

Moore has undoubtedly struggled in the Championship this season, scoring five goals in his 22 league outings.

Other Clubs

Plenty of Premier League clubs along with top Championship clubs wants to sign the striker. As per reports, Premier League side Wolves were linked with the striker in the summer. Meanwhile Championship leaders Bournemouth have also been recently linked with a move for Moore.

Both the clubs are currently monitoring the 29-year-old striker’s situation in the club.

As for Cardiff, they have already lost their creative outlet in the form of Ryan Giles. Ryan has been recalled by his parent club Wolves. So, the loss of Moore would prove a further setback for Cardiff City in the frontline.

A potential fee and verdict

No new fee has been revealed by Cardiff City. However, the fee was around £7m when Wolves were linked with the Welsh striker.

For Cardiff, they’ll surely try to keep Moore in their squad for the summer at least. They’re in a very bad position in the Championship and are fighting to stay out of the relegation zone. So keeping a proven Championship striker of his calibre in their squad is very necessary.

But it’s not been easy at Cardiff to keep the player away from good offers. It is expected that Burnley can secure a striker for a price of around $15m.

As a result, Moore can head towards the emerging Premier League interest from Burnley who are now in desperate need of a striker.
