Arsenal to go big for Dusan Vlahovic

About Football Express UK

Arsenal is said to be ready to break the bank to land Dusan Vlahovic this January. This is according to The Mirror, which reports that the Gunners are pushing to land the Serbian in the summer.

Dusan Vlahovic has rejected Fiorentina’s proposal to renew his contract. This meant that they are ready to cash in on the Serbian and is demanding huge fees for him. Arsenal has been monitoring the situation of Dusan and wants to add him to their attack.

The Gunners are currently facing issues in their attack with the centre-forwards in the team either out of contract in summer or out of favour. Hence Arsenal is desperate to add Dusan to their frontline to better their chances in the league.

DUSAN VLAHOVIC THE PRIME TARGET FOR ARSENAL

Dusan Vlahovic has become one of the sought after young centre-forwards in the world in the last two years. He has hit great form with Fiorentina in the last season and has continued it to this season as well.

In the 2020/21 season, the Serbian scored 21 times for Fiorentina in 37 appearances in the Seria A. This season he is already on track to beat that, having scored 16 times from his 20 appearances. His form in 2021 has been so great that he managed to score 33 in the calendar year in Serie A. This is equal to the record set by Cristiano Ronaldo just the year before.

Such amazing form meant that many clubs are monitoring the Serbian. Fiorentina wants to keep hold of the star, however, Dusan Vlahovic wants a move and is not ready to renew his contract. Hence now the Serie A side is looking to cash in on their player and is looking upwards of £70million for the 21-year-old.

Arsenal is one of the sides that have shown early interest in Dusan. They face competition from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, Juventus and Manchester City who are all eyeing the Serbian. However, Arsenal is willing to meet the asking price in January to avoid any competition in the summer.

READY TO BREAK THE BANK

While avoiding competition is one thing, the Gunners are also desperate to add a centre-forward to their team. Both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah will see their contract end in the summer and look set to leave for free. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is the other option for Arsenal but is out of favour after his disciplinary issues.

Thus adding a young striker like Dusan Vlahovic will help Arsenal to compete against their rivals. Manager Mikel Arteta is building a young squad and the Serbian can become their main man upfront.

However, Arsenal could face disappointment in the race for Dusan Vlahovic. The 21-year-old did not want to move to Arsenal as he is eyeing for Champions League. He is ready to wait till summer to hear more offers and also wants to stay with Fiorentina for the rest of the campaign.

The Gunners have made it clear that they want Dusan. They have put multiple bids for the player, including a player plus cash deal involving Lucas Torreira. Arsenal is also ready to offer a very high wage for the player to tempt him to make a move. With still time for the winter window to close, we could expect more development in this transfer saga.
