Manchester United wants Federico Chiesa from the Bianconeri.

Manchester United wants Federico Chiesa from the Bianconeri.

Juventus have signed Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina with an obligation to buy in 2022.
For his country, Chiesa was impressed at the Euros after having a G/A of 3 in 9 games. He also scored in the semifinals against Spain.

At Juventus, he was under the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo. The media spoke about Ronaldo but not much about Chiesa.

Federico Chiesa gained popularity after winning the Euros with Italy.

According to Fichajes, United are hopeful to sign Federico Chiesa, Nicolo Barella and Kieran Trippier.

In the 2017 Champions League final, Ronaldo’s bicycle kick was phenomenal. He received a standing ovation from the Juventus fans as well.

What went wrong for Ronaldo at Juventus?

In a surprising turn of events, Cristiano Ronaldo then joined Juventus in the next season itself.

His presence itself helped the club a lot financially. The club gained 4 million new followers on social media within 24 hours of his arrival. The club sold 1 million shirts in his first season which was double that of last season.

Juventus renegotiated their existing deals with Jeep and Juventus because of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Jeep deal which was previously €17million rose to €42 million and the Adidas deal from €23 million to €51 million.

Juventus last won the UCL title in 1996, they have lost the most finals(7). The main intent of signing a world-class player like Ronaldo was to win the Champions League.

They won the Serie-A and Coppa Italia but they kept on winning that in the past. Even without Ronaldo, they had shown they are capable of winning those titles. Individually Cristiano Ronaldo broke many records. He scored 101 goals in 134 games in all competitions.

The Portuguese were clearly brought to win the Champions League but he could not do that alone. His comeback against Atletico Madrid in the second leg was his best performance for Juventus. Despite scoring a hat-trick in the second leg, they went on to lose against Ajax.

There was a lack of rhythm in Juve’s playing style. The midfield underperformed despite being great on paper. The constant change of coaches did not help Ronaldo or the team at all. The story of Juventus and Ronaldo was great but expectations were set high.

These expectations were impossible to meet because he needed the team as much as the team needed him.
