Erik Ten Hag full of praises for Malacia

About Football Express UK

After the victory over Leeds, Ten Hag didn’t shy away to praise Tyrell Malacia. The Manchester United boss has used different players for the role of full backs this season. He has tried out Shaw and Malacia at left back, Dalot was the regular at the right flank but his injury led to Wan-Bissaka to playing at right back. Till now he has done an excellent job.

Versatile Player

Ten hag has been especially delighted with Malacia’s versatility, which has allowed him to occasionally play at right-back while also joining the midfield during offence. He also stated:

“I want to play my full-back inside. In my perspective, the best at that is Tyrell Malacia and I think he did well in the first half.”

Ten hag has been fond of the Dutch youngster but in the match against the Leeds, his effectiveness was proven. He completely fits the role of attacking full back that Ten Hag has been wanting all season. The tactic of full backs moving inside to support the midfield was mainly started by Pep Guardiola in his days at the Bayern Munich, Ten Hag was an assistant to Guardiola. He also has been adapting the same style in his coaching career. The Manchester United boss has been long trying to involve his players in different roles across the pitch. This results in improved passing as well as better attacking options.

The Red Devils have also tried this out with Wan-Bissaka, in the coming days, Ten Hag will be tempted to try this out with more and more players. This will make the squad more versatile. United signed Malacia from Feyenoord for only £13 million. It has been one of the biggest bargains for them in the transfer window. The signing of Malacia has payed of really well. He has made 25 appearances for United till now and has started in 21 of them. He also started in the wins against Liverpool and City this season.
