De Bruyne could be dropped for Saturday’s Manchester derby

About Football Express UK

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could reportedly axe Kevin De Bruyne from his first eleven. For Saturday’s Manchester derby as per the report in English outlet The Guardian

The 30-year-old hasn’t had a great start to the season as he has only started four games in the Premier League. Scoring only two goals this season. The Belgian has struggled with fitness issues at the start of the campaign. And hasn’t managed to find his full form so far this season.

According to the report, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola might consider dropping Kevin De Bruyne from his first eleven against Manchester United on the upcoming weekend. The midfielder hasn’t had a great impact on the team so far this campaign. Only lasted 59 minutes against Crystal Palace in a 2-0 defeat at Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City has had their struggles this campaign as they have already lost ten points this season and are sitting third in the league with five points behind the leader Chelsea

Struggling De Bruyne might be dropped in Manchester derby:

Kevin De Bruyne has been the most consistent performer in the Manchester City shirt since making the move back in 2015. During this time the midfielder has helped the Citizens in lifting three Premier League titles, one F.A Cup and five league cup awards.

The Belgian just returned from an ankle injury that he suffered during the Euro 2020. So, he will need time to get back to full match fitness. This recent drop in form of the talisman might be concerning for the Etihad faithful but the former Chelsea man will find his form as the season goes by.

Meanwhile, after a disappointing defeat against Crystal Palace at home, Manchester City will host Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday night. And then they will be travelling to Old Trafford to face Manchester United next Saturday.
