“You can’t always win”: Manchester City U21 learns lesson as they exit out of EFL Cup.

Manchester City

When your senior team is playing in the best way possible throughout Europe. Then people expect the same from you as well. The senior team has set unmatchable standards for any other team. You have to atleast come closer to that standard. But there is one important thing. You can’t always win. This is the lesson that Manchester City U21s have learnt after their 3-0 loss to Bradford town in the EFL Cup knock out stage.

Knowing that they need a win to advance to the next round, City approached the game in their usual style of play. The start the game with possession based football. This style is being adopted by the junior team as well because it has a major role in the success across all age groups of the team.

But Bradford on the other hand, being equipped with experience, got the better of the Cityzens. It is important to note here that you also need experience in order to perform well.

Moreover, Forward Tyler Smith scored a first half hat-trick. This was more than enough to make City struggle the rest of the game.

You can’t always win, learning is an important part of the game.

According to manchestereveningnews, Man City U21 are a younger team as compared to previous seasons Most of the players of the squad have left. But the major concern lies somewhere else. This is the third time when the U21s have been eliminated from the EFL Cup.

Despite having most of the possession, City seemed to struggle. Bradford on the other end, had little control over the possession. Yet, Bradford are the one to go through the next round. Moreover, City got a bitter taste of senior football. It is important because that’s how they’re going to get and idea about higher level league. This is a harsh lesson for the youngsters and they have to learn from it.
