Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing Napoli ace Victor Osimhen as an attacking reinforcement this summer in the transfer window.
The Red Devils are on the lookout for a forward as Cristiano Ronaldo still wants an exit from Old Trafford. The Mancunian side has identified a few options to make a swoop for this summer to bolster the squad.
Manager Erik ten Hag believes Osimhen and Ajax’s Antony could fit well perfectly at United if the transfer goes through. However, it is understood that the Napoli ace only wants to play Champions League football this season.
Napoli Boss on Manchester United target
Victor Osimhen is strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in the transfer window this summer. However, as per the Napoli manager, the pole only wants to play Champions League football for the new season.
Whereas, United are currently offering Europa League football, something that does not quite attract the forward from Napoli. Moreover, speaking in an interview, Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti told this-
“He wants to play the Champions League with this (Napoli) squad,”
“Osimhen gave his response, via his agent, saying he wants to play the Champions League and he wants to play it with this squad.”
“I have not changed the starting XI because they did very well. If there are no problems, I see no reason to change.
“The issue of squad rotation will be later when we have a game every three days.
“He cares about his teammates, he chases down opposition players to help out and is a very strong focal point in attack. Having him at our disposal with that mentality is the best we could ask for.”
Moreover, it could be tricky for United to pull-off this transfer but Antony is more than willing to join the club.
