Liverpool FC: Three players missing training before Newcastle

As Liverpool FC visits Newcastle United on Saturday, Ibrahima Konate is expected to be absent once more.

Konate came through the ranks at French second division side FC Sochaux, having joined their boarding academy at the age of 15, moving 300 miles south-east of his native Paris in 2014 to pursue his dream of becoming a footballer. Just two years later it came true when he signed his first professional contract, and in the 2016/17 season the defender made his senior debut for Sochaux, taking to the pitch 12 times and scoring once.

Due to a hamstring injury, the centre defender has missed the Liverpool FC last two games. Moreover, Konate was not observed during training yesterday, indicating that he is most likely unavailable.

With only 10 appearances allowed, the French international has had a tough season.

Thiago Alcantara, who was absent from Monday’s 2-0 triumph against Everton in the Merseyside Derby, will continue to receive therapy. Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool FC acknowledged that Thiago will be absent for a “while” due to a hip issue.

Calvin Ramsay too didn’t come to AXA Training Center. The right-back, who joined from Aberdeen last summer, reportedly has a chronic problem, according to The Telegraph. Ramsay has indeed had to have surgery since then.

Ramsay has only twice played for Liverpool FC since his examination revealed a pre-existing problem.

Yet, it seemed as though Virgil van Dijk had resumed his regular training. In the 3-1 defeat to Brentford on January 2, the center-back sustained a hamstring injury. Van Dijk, who had only done light training the week before against Everton, was a substitute.
