Thierry Henry liked the Arteta’s £50m Arsenal transfer plan

Arsenal

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was full of praise for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke on Thursday night – just days after the striker was linked with a transfer to the Emirates.

Thierry Henry has lauded Dominic Solanke after the in-form Bournemouth striker emerged as a potential January transfer target for Arsenal.

Solanke, 26, has been in inspired form for the Cherries this season,

Playing a crucial role in their current seven-match unbeaten run.

The former Chelsea and Liverpool forward is already enjoying his most prolific campaign at Premier League level after plundering 12 goals in 18 matches this term.

Arsenal to improve the attacking side

The Bournemouth striker’s form has seemingly piqued the interest of other Premier League clubs ahead of the winter transfer window

And Henry’s endorsement underlines why Solanke is currently one of the top-flight’s hottest commodities.

When he was asked to pick out one Premier League player who has impressed him so far this season on Amazon Prime Sport, Henry had no hesitation in naming Solanke. He explained: “Dominic Solanke, the way he is playing at Bournemouth. Not only him, the team is doing extremely well, but we have been waiting for him to be that player.

“I guess it was a bit too much when he was younger. But what he is doing right now is brilliant. I am happy for him because he did struggle for a little bit. Now he is looking good.”

According to a recent report from The Star, Solanke has emerged as an alternative transfer target for Arsenal should they fail in their bid to prise Ivan Toney away from Brentford.

The Bees striker is currently serving an eight-month ban after breaching betting rules

But will be available for selection again next month.

Whether or not he sees the month out at Brentford remains to be seen, though, with the Londoners braced for transfer interest in their talisman.

However, with The Sun now claiming Brentford are ‘desperate’ to keep hold of Toney following their recent poor form,

A move for the £50million-rated Solanke could instead materialise in the coming weeks.
