“The right player”- Liverpool Boss responds to calls to sign new midfielder

About Football Express UK

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has responded to calls to sign a new midfielder this summer in the transfer window.

The Reds have dealt with yet another injury blow as Thiago Alcantara is out for atleast six weeks. The midfielder picked up the injury in the first match of their Premier League campaign against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Since then, a lot of people, pundits, and fans across the world have been wanting the boss to make a new signing. Now, Klopp has finally responded to the suggestions of signing a new midfielder this summer in the transfer window.

Liverpool Boss speaks out

Liverpool are without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones, and Naby Keita already since the opening game against the newly promoted side. Moreover, the latest addition in Alcantara has made a lot of people wonder if Klopp should turn to the market.

However, the Reds boss in an interview cleared the air regarding a new signing on the horizon this summer window. He said-

“I’m happy with the strength, size and quality of my squad but we have injuries, that’s how it is,”

“Now it is a question of how long will players be out and stuff like this and there are different solutions for it.

“There are plenty I would say and one of them is the transfer market, but the transfer market only makes sense if you can bring in the right player. The right player, not a player.

“It’s easy to bring a player in and that doesn’t help even [for] a week. If there is the right player then it would make sense but we always actually would have done that from the first day of the transfer window.

From the first day of the pre-season, we would have done it.

“But it’s just in some cases not possible and in other cases extremely difficult. That’s why you don’t have to think a lot about it.

If something is not possible why should I then constantly think about it? ‘But if not we cannot exist…?’ We can. So, all the other solutions are inside the squad.”

The gaffer emphasized bringing in the right player who could fit right well into the Liverpool squad. By his words, it does not seem as though he would turn to the transfer market this summer unless urgent.
