Richard Arnold issues a warning to Erik ten Hag and John Murtough

Erik ten Hag

Manchester United‘s chief executive officer Richard Arnold has issued a warning to manager Erik ten Hag and director of football John Murtough.

Richard Arnold has warned the duo that he will not have ‘d********’ at this club anymore. Arnold is referring to the players who create problems in the dressing room, who are deemed as ‘troublemakers’.

Richard Arnold’s positive impact

Richard Arnold has made a positive impact since replacing Ed Woodward last season. He has happily allowed both Erik ten Hag and Richard Arnold to oversee football-related matters while warning them to be aware of the ‘troublemakers’.

Arnold spearheaded the transfer window last summer which saw Erik ten Hag being backed by significant funds, making him the manager to receive the highest financial backing out of any manager in Manchester United’s history. Ten hag has done well considering the backing he has received. Despite losses in the first two games, he has managed to win 23 out of the next 29 games.

The way Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation was handled, it resonates pretty well with how Richard Arnold doesn’t want trouble-makers at this club. Ronaldo’s explosive interview could have ruined the atmosphere at the club. However, Manchester United didn’t hesitate to swiftly rectify the matter. This shows how Erik ten Hag and John Murtough are effectively working with Richard Arnold and the board to avoid problematic elements at the club.

What lies next?

The winter transfer window has seen just two arrivals. Jack Butland joined as a replacement for Martin Dubravka and Wout Weghorst joined to add depth to United’s attacking unit.

Christian Eriksen succumbed to an ankle injury against Reading. This prompted Manchester United’s board to sign another midfielder. Hence, currently, the club is on the verge of signing Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich. He is going to be the third signing of this window.
