Rashford is “really close” to sign a new contract with Manchester United

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford is “really close” to signing a new deal. All indications suggest that the England international is ready to commit his long-term career to Man United.

Rashford set to pen a contract extension with Manchester United

Fabrizio Romano described the 25-year-old as “incredible” after he rebounded from a disappointing 2021-22 season. He scored 30 goals and assisting nine times in 56 appearances.

Erik ten Hag will be reorganising his team this summer. As a result six players might depart, including club captain Harry Maguire and Donny Van de Beek. Both of them are looking for more game time after underperforming last season. David De Gea’s future is uncertain, with his contract period ending at the end of the month. Hence Manchester United exploring a number of prospective successors, including Diogo Costa, David Raya, and Andre Onana.

Rashford could replace De Gea as the club’s highest earner, with a £375k-per-week deal on the table, according to reports earlier this month. Even though making him the club’s highest paid player is a risky move, it is nonetheless great news that he is going to stay at Old Trafford for his prime years. In addition Romano gave an update on the work of Rashford’s contract extension.

“It’s really, really close to being signed,” the transfer analyst claimed in an interview with GiveMeSport. “Everything has been verbally agreed upon. It comes down to the final few points, but Rashford has opted to stay. Erik ten Hag deserves credit for this as well.”

Red Devils looking for an explosive striker

Given his age, the United academy product is certain to improve in the coming years. Red Devil’s primary objective should now be to add in some extra offensive alternatives to strengthen the frontline. Given the amount of quality attackers associated with the Red Devils in recent weeks, Rashford might keep playing mostly on the left wing, as he did last season.

The Red Devils schedule a meeting with Victor Osimhen’s entourage, who might leave Napoli this summer. While Harry Kane apparently wants to move to Old Trafford, albeit it could prove a difficult deal to pull by considering Daniel Levy’s refusal to sell him.
