According to proposals to enlarge the North Stand at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City matches may draw as many as 62,170 people. This information comes from Football Insider.

The club revealed in December of last year that feasibility studies had been started to increase the venue’s capacity “beyond 60,000.”

According to documents viewed by Football Insider, the actual number could be up to 62,170, an increase of 8,770 over the present seating capacity.

City have hired Populous, who supervised the South Stand redevelopment project to assist with stadium development.

The plans will also include a brand-new fan area, a club store, a special office, and a hotel on-site.

Kieran Maguire told Football Insider that the proposals might increase City’s matchday revenue by as much as £10 million annually.

Extension Of Manchester City Etihad Stadium

Manchester City Council owns the Etihad Stadium. They have approved the extension proposals as part of the most recent planning application process in 2014.

The rental deal that City has in place with the local authorities brings in £5.5 million annually for the taxpayer. Furthermore, it is nearly twice what City paid in the first year of the renegotiated lease in 2010–2011.

For the club supported by Abu Dhabi, which brought in £54.5 million from ticket sales in 2021–2022, the sum still represents excellent value for money.

The Etihad Stadium’s most recent significant renovation took place prior to the 2017–18 campaign. City removed 1,100 front-row seats to make room for a double-sized perimeter advertising system.
