Nottingham Forest identify an Atletico defender as a target

Renan Lodi

Newly promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest has spent over £150m in the market so far. They have raised many eyebrows by signing over 15 players in a bid to stay in the English top flight. Forest may continue their spending spree, as they seek to bolster its defense. Atletico defender Renan Lodi has been identified as a potential target.

Despite their massive spending, Forest have only got four points from their opening three fixtures, including a win over West Ham United. But coach Steve Cooper has revealed that they are still in the market for more signings in the transfer window’s closing days.

What does Renan Lodi offer Nottingham Forest?

Lodi typically plays as a left-back or a left-wing-back. Forest have already made two signings for that role in Omar Richards and Harry Trofolo. But the former is out with injury and Cooper wants more competition for that left-sided role.

The Brazillian seeks to leave Atletico as he is behind Yannick Carrasco in the pecking order. He wants regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup. Forest has reportedly made an offer of a €5m (£4.2m) loan with the option of pushing through a permanent deal for €30m (£25.4m) also a possibility.
