Maximo Perrone may receive an early boost from Manchester City as the new signing struggles with the Argentina Under-20 team

About Football Express UK

Manchester City announced Maximo Perrone signing on Monday. Citizens didn’t have to wait long to see him in action. He also represented Argentina.

Perrone has joined the Etihad for £8.2 million from Velez Sarsfield on a five-and-a-half-year deal. Perrone scored in Argentina’s opening match loss to Paraguay. Javier Mascherano’s youthful players had to perform better last night against Brazil’s opponents, but things didn’t work out as expected.

Argentina conceded a goal in the first half, missed a penalty, and then Perrone lost possession of the ball in midfield, allowing Brazil to break and score a second goal.

Argentina had a foul-tempered second half. Perrone But despite their pressure, Brazil got a penalty of their own late in the game to seal the victory.

A goal was eventually recovered by Perrone’s team, but the 20-year-afternoon-old’s was marred by a simulation booking in stoppage time.

Argentina looks lost now to move to the next round. The loss places them fourth in their five-team group.

The top three go to the second group stage. Where they will fight in a six-team group for the right to represent their region as champions. Hosts Argentina must now win both of their remaining games to have any hope of moving on. Colombia now holds the third-place spot with four points.

Manchester City had kept an eye on him for a long time.

Argentina are on a brink of elimination

If Colombia beat Brazil then Argentina’s chance becomes slim. Even if they defeat Peru on Wednesday and Colombia on Saturday. If Colombia were to do that, Argentina might still be able to qualify, but only if Brazil lost to the current leaders Paraguay and managed to reverse the eight-goal discrepancy in goal differential between the two countries.

Since Perrone is scheduled to arrive at the City Football Academy after completing his responsibilities in Colombia, Manchester City would be keeping an eye on Argentina’s progress. Argentina may be able to welcome their new recruit earlier than anticipated if they are eliminated this week.

Perrone is anticipated to train with Manchester City for the remainder of the current campaign. He’s not anticipated to play for City this year, but he could be an option down the road.
