Mauricio Pochettino suggests ‘fantastic’ Chelsea player could still start in their next game

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that Levi Colwill still has a chance to start at the weekend against Nottingham Forest.

Mauricio Pochettino told FootballLondon, that the defender is not actually injured despite limping off the pitch last night against AFC Wimbledon.

Levi Colwill was one of the few regular Chelsea starters, who were called upon to feature in the League Cup against lower league opposition.

Things certainly didn’t go their way in the match against ACF Wimbledon throughout the 90 minutes.

They found themselves a goal down with just a few minutes to go until half-time.

However, Noni Madueke won and scored a penalty before the manager brought on some of the big guns to finish the tie off.

Arguably the biggest of all, Enzo Fernandez was the one who won it with his first goal for the club.

While the performance wasn’t perfect, the worst news was to come after the game.

Colwill had limped off straight down the tunnel in the second half.

Pochettino said Colwill is fit, can be available for Chelsea’s clash against Forest

Colwill was seen applauding the fans with ice strapped to his ankle.

Pochettino stated in the press conference, that Colwill is likely to be available for the match against Forest.

He said: No, he’s not injured. It’s not a big issue, small problem. He got ice on his ankle but it’s not going to be a problem for the weekend.”

The Englishman has played a key role for the club this season.

He has finally established himself at Stamford Bridge.

Levi has started all three games so far this season. Fans will be hoping he is fit enough to compete against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
