Chelsea ‘close’ to offload Hudson-Odoi to Nottingham Forest

In order to part ways with winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest are in advanced negotiations. The 22-year-old has been informed by Mauricio Pochettino that he is not in his plans and is no longer needed at Stamford Bridge. The winger was previously one of the most popular players in international football, with Bayern Munich making a bid of almost £40 million for the playmaker in 2018 before he committed to the Blues for a period of five years. With only a year left on his contract in west London, Hudson-Odoi has struggled to make an impact. Hence Chelsea will probably sell the ‘outcast star’ to Nottingham Forest today.

Chelsea closing in to offload another ‘outcast attacker’

Although Fulham had an interest in signing Hudson-Odoi, personal terms could not be reached. But now Forest manager Steve Cooper is eager to provide his frontline an extra spark. After bringing Anthony Elanga from Manchester United earlier in the transfer season, the coach is now eyeing Chelsea attacker. Although talks are going on for long-term agreement for Hudson-Odoi, Chelsea would be ready to offer a full loan deal with a buy-back clause.

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, claims that Callum Hudson-Odoi, is close to moving to Nottingham Forest. Romano states that the deal is in its “final stages” and it will be announced soon.

With a move to Forest, Hudson-Odoi will be trying to reignite his career. Due to injuries and a fierce competition for opportunities at Chelsea, the winger has been unable to make an impact. He made 27 appearances in all competitions while on loan at Bayer Leverkusen last season, contributing four goals and six assists in that time.

Hudson-Odoi might feel happy reuniting with his former coach Steve Cooper. The pair previously worked together at England youth level. In 2017, Cooper’s under-17 team won the World Cup, and Hudson-Odoi was one of the standout players on the team. The Chelsea academy graduate has earned admiration over the years. But he might have to regain his old form and prove his mettle in his new team.
