Gabriel Magalhaes likely to stay at Arsenal as Gunners clear their stance

Gabriel Magalhaes

Gabriel Magalhaes’ transfer appears less and less realistic as his main suitors in Saudi Arabia turn their attention elsewhere. Gabriel was certainly a top target for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, despite the fact that Arsenal never appeared particularly eager to sell. According to ESPN reporter James Benge, Al-Ittihad is currently looking into different options, such as Sergio Ramos and Luis Felipe. Although Gabriel is the subject of further Saudi interest, it doesn’t seem to be of the level that might convince Arsenal.

Gabriel Magalhaes will certainly STAY in Arsenal

Gabriel Magalhaes’ transfer rumour from Arsenal during the current transfer window was previously brought up by the Daily Mail earlier this week. However Arsenal continues to insist that Gabriel is not for sale. But Arsenal have been making preparations for a potential replacement just in case Gabriel wants to move out. Thus Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace is apparently one of Arsenal’s top targets in such situation. However it’s now evident that both Arsenal and Gabriel Magalhaes wants to work together.

The Brazilian reportedly wants to stay at the Emirates Stadium because he’d been excited to play for Arsenal in the Champions League. Thus, a move to Saudi Arabia doesn’t attract the defender as he aspires to win major titles with Arsenal. Fabrizio Romano confirms:

“Because internally, from Arsenal, the message is very clear – the player is staying. He’s a crucial player for the project and they want him to continue there. At the moment, there is nothing going on with any club.”

Gabriel Magalhaes landed in Arsenal from Lille in the summer of 2020. At the Emirates, the Brazilian impressed everyone with his aerial prowess and interception skills. He embarked on an incredible run of starting more than 70 straight Premier League games. Arteta broke Gabriel’s amazing record in Arsenal’s season-opening match as he was in bench. In addition he hasn’t started a game since, playing only 24 minutes in 3 games as a substitute. In each of their first three games this season, Arteta has benched him. Although it may only be a tactical choice, still Arsenal supporters want the Brazilian to start.
