Manchester United takeover news: Final bid already submitted?

Manchester United

One of the bidders for Manchester United is expressing confidence in the success of their takeover attempt. The club has been available for purchase since last November. This is when the Glazer family declared their intention to “explore strategic alternatives,” including the possibility of a full sale.

Since then, three rounds of bidding for Manchester United took place. Now, petrochemicals billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim emerged as the leading contenders to become the majority shareholders of the club.

Ratcliffe’s plan involves keeping the Glazer family on board with a reduced 20 per cent stake in the club. On the other hand, Sheikh Jassim has submitted a bid for a complete 100 per cent takeover of Manchester United.

Ratcliffe aims to retain the Glazer family with a diminished 20 per cent stake. Meanwhile Sheikh Jassim made an offer for a complete 100 per cent takeover of the club.

How much time it may take for the takeover of Manchester United?

Indeed, there have been widespread reports indicating that members of the Glazer family are in conflict over whether they should accept a complete sale of the club.

The Glazer family’s deliberations are indeed causing delays. Hence, a financial report from Bloomberg suggests that the Qatari group remains “confident it’s the favorite” in the race to acquire Manchester United.

Regardless of which party’s bid emerges successful, the delay in reaching a decision has already compromised their immediate plans. According to prominent journalist Ben Jacobs, a deal may eventually finalize with Ratcliffe or Sheikh Jassim. Hence, they will not exert any influence until the summer transfer window is nearing its closure.
