Noam Emeran, a youngster from Rwanda, is leaving Manchester United after agreeing to a four-year contract with Dutch Eredivisie team Groningen. According to reports, the Dutch team paid £850,000 to Manchester United for the promising winger. Moreover the Red Devils also anticipates a 25% profit on any future sales. Emeran scored goals against Leeds United and Chester during preseason games with the Manchester United senior team. Thus many fans predicted he would be selected in the 2023–24 squad. However, his desire to get enough playing time led him to leave the club for joining Groningen.

Noam Emeran leaves United to join Groningen FC

With rumours circulating before the transfer market opened that Erik ten Hag intended as much as £100m from exits to finance the team’s signing, the Red Devils have been trying to raise money through player sales this summer. However, according to Transfermarkt, Man United have only been able to earn about €38 million so far. Anthony Elanga and Fred earning the most profit from their five sales.

Ten Hag’s three major summer acquisitions this summer are Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, and Andre Onana. Hence Man Utd will keep selling players to make room for new talents. Emeran has been a player who appears to be on the verge of leaving the club. The Frenchman ‘has agreed to join’ Groningen of the Dutch second division according to several sources. Emeran has been given permission to complete his medicals this week. He will also negotiate some terms after United accepted a six-figure offer for him, the source adds.

The 20-year-old, who joined from French club Amiens in 2019, has only one year left on his contract. However he is yet to play for the first squad in a competitive game. So quitting the club to obtain playing time is a smart move.

The youngster drops emotional farewell message confirming his exit

During his four years at the club, he made 55 appearances across all competitions, contributing 8 assists and scoring 14 goals. Emeran expressed his gratitude to the Manchester United club in a heartfelt goodbye statement for the opportunity they had given him since he arrived as a 16-year-old at the club. As he sets out on a new journey in the Netherlands, his teammates from the Manchester United U21 team have also sent their best wishes.

He said via instagram: “It is not easy to leave such an incredible club. But the time is right and the next opportunity is perfect . With the support of some amazing people, I’ve experienced unbelievable highs, made friends for life, created unforgettable memories and overcome some difficult moments that have only made me stronger and more resilient.”

He adds: “I want to achieve a lot in my career and feel ready to play senior football every week. I’m excited for the future knowing what awaits me has also been built on the foundations of my development at Manchester United. All glory to God.”
