Manchester City eyeing Lucas Paqueta on a £88 million bid

West Ham United might reject the revised preliminary offer of £88 million from Manchester City. Santi Aouna claims that Manchester City came back with a revised verbal offer of £88 million for Lucas Paqueta. West Ham is anticipated to turn down the late offer because they might demand a greater sum from Pep Guardiola’s team in exchange for their valuable asset.

Manchester City wants to sign a new midfielder Lucas Paqueta after missing out on Rice

When Manchester City made a sizable offer for Declan Rice, it was clear that they were looking for a new midfielder to pair with Mateo Kovacic. The plan was to bring in a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan, who moved on a free transfer to Barcelona. Manchester City withdrew itself from the race as Arsenal just beat their rivals for their acquisition of Rice. Instead, City concentrated on adding a new defender. Hence most recently City paid a fee little below £80 million to RB Leipzig to get Josko Gvardiol. Pep Guardiola may have felt the need for additional reinforcements as the new season came near. Thus the idea of adding a midfielder might have returned to his thoughts. Lucas Paqueta of West Ham United is the focus of a verbal offer of £70 million from Manchester City.

Transfermarkt estimates that the 25-year-old was merely paid well under £40 million to join the Hammers, despite other media outlets claiming a significantly greater sum. West Ham didn’t think about selling him, but if the price is right, they might sell him. By doing so, they may aim for a sum comparable to what Arsenal shelled out for Rice earlier in the transfer window. Despite the initial rejection of their verbal offer, Manchester City have continued to engage in advanced negotiations with the Hammers and have now upgraded their offer.

Hammers demands £95 million for the Brazilian International

Santi Aouna reports that Manchester City recently made a new improved offer of £88 million. Although it’s a significant sum of money for the 25-year-old, West Ham might turn down the most recent offer. According to reports, the Hammers may demand Guardiola’s team for more £7 million in order to release the Brazilian. Although it is unclear if Manchester City is prepared to improve their bid further. However the fact that they have made two offers shows how serious they are about Paqueta. The player apparently desires the transfer as well. He might want to grab a golden oppurtunity to play for a Champions League team. According to Claret and Hugh, Paqueta’s close ones at West Ham have been in touch with them to let them know how ‘unhappy’ the player is with the team and with the tactics of David Moyes, their manager.

Given that West Ham and Manchester City are keeping their channels for interaction open, the coming days will be critical in this deal. The big question is still whether the player is indeed worth that much or more. However Guardiola appears determined to improve his midfield nonetheless.
