Manchester City have entered a bidding war for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, having dropped their pursuit of West Ham captain Declan Rice. The treble champions have chosen not to make another bid for West Ham and England player Declan Rice. Arsenal might sign Rice for a £105 million deal as per reports late on Tuesday night. Manchester City are looking for replacements of the Hammers captain as the Sky Blues want to replace Ilkay Gundogan, who recently left the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer to join Barcelona.

Manchester City wants to sign Gabri Veiga after missing out on Declan Rice

Rice was among Manchester City’s three key transfer targets this summer, alongside Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol. However the Blues are now considering alternative options, including Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga, based on an exclusive report by Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old has a €40 million release clause. Hence after withdrawing from the competition for Rice, the Spain midfielder is currently being considered by the Premier League winners. Manchester City, along with rivals Liverpool and Chelsea, are the clubs to express an interest in signing Veiga this summer.

Veiga has 15 goal contribution in 36 La Liga games for Celta Vigo last season. The 21-year-old can play anywhere in the midfield. Veiga has the capacity to handle both attacking and defensive roles, in addition to playing centrally. The Celta Vigo midfielder is presently competing in the U21 European Championships in Georgia. He has played in all three Group Stage matches for Spain, who made it to the quarter-finals.
