Man United in pole position to sign defender Jean-Clair Todibo over Spurs

About Football Express UK

The French defender is being targeted and pursued by many Premier League clubs. Despite interests from Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham, Man United are leading the race to sign the defender. Todibo currently plays for the French side OGC Nice in the Ligue 1. According to reports from Football Insider, United may utilise Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s connection to land the Center back. The rumoured new investor of Man United, the billionaire’s INEOS group are majority owners of the Ligue 1 club. Also due to recent voting of Premier League clubs to not ban related-party deals last month, Man United are free to trade with other European clubs owned by INEOS. The Ratcliffe connection might be enough to secure the signing of the 23 year old centre back from Nice.

Todibo is one of the best young defenders

The Frenchman joined Barcelona from Toulouse in the 18/19 season, where he came up as a youngster. After a LaLiga winning season with Barcelona, he went out on multiple loans including Schalke, Benfica and Nice where he was eventually sold in 2022. Todibo performed as a solid centre back who clearly had high potential for the future. Now, many big clubs want to sign him for his abilities. Tottenham seemed to be the favourites earlier, but it has changed to Man United recently. It’s certainly up to the player to decide which club he will choose, but he has some good offers from great teams.

Man United need a solid defender at the back

With long term injury to Lisando Martinez and Raphael Varane likely to be sold, Harry Maguire and Lindelof were the favourite options of Erik Ten Hag. But after a recent injury to Harry Maguire, things are looking difficult for the Red Devils at the back. The addition of Jean-Clair Todibo can solve the defensive problems of Man United easily. However, the transfer race still continues, let’s see where Todibo ends up.
