Liverpool not interested in signing Sadio Mane this summer

Liverpool has no possibility of re-signing Sadio Mane for Anfield in the upcoming summer. Mane’s first season at Bayern Munich has been a complete disaster. Thus, leading to speculation about the 31-year-old’s potential sale after just one year since his £35m transfer.

Consequently, there have been suggestions urging Jurgen Klopp to repatriate Mane to Merseyside. However, journalist Neil Jones from CaughtOffside claims that such a scenario is unlikely to occur.

“I think there were a lot of times last season when I watched Liverpool and they missed Mane hugely, and I still think that,” Jones began. “I’m sure they could’ve got more out of him being at the club than they did from the £30-35m they got from selling him to Bayern. I think he’s far from finished as a player and he could’ve continued to have a positive impact at Liverpool.”

“He won’t be coming back to Liverpool, I think we can safely rule that out, but his struggles at Bayern will make for an interesting situation this summer. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him back in the Premier League, with Newcastle recently linked with him.”

What makes it difficult for Mane to return to Liverpool?

Realistically, Liverpool supporters didn’t hold any expectations for Mane’s return this summer. There was extensive discourse about their longing for their previous No.10 during the previous season. But the reality is that there is no longer a place for him in the team.

Luis Diaz had already assumed Mane’s role six months prior to his eventual departure. Additionally, both Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo have been recruited. While none of them have achieved the same goal-scoring figures as the Senegalese legend did at Anfield, all three have the potential to do so in the future.

Despite its difficulty, Liverpool progressed beyond relying on Mane and no longer requires his services. Engaging in such a deal is simply not in line with Liverpool’s present philosophy. Witnessing Mane return to the Premier League with any other team would be heart-wrenching. However, as he seeks to rejuvenate his career, a move back to the league where he showcased his finest football may be the optimal choice.
