Liverpool might chase for Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips

Liverpool

Liverpool finds themselves at the starting point once again in their search for a new midfielder. The club recently fell short in securing both Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. However, the club must now reevaluate their approach to recruiting midfield talent.

Reports from The Mail say Liverpool is now reconsidering a few options that they had previously dismissed. With one of them being Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.

Earlier this summer, there were connections between the Reds and Phillips. However, it appears that Liverpool quickly dismissed the notion of acquiring him.

With a sense of urgency growing at Anfield, Phillips has once again become a viable choice. While it might be simple for Liverpool fans to reject the prospect of signing Phillips, considering his time on the bench at Manchester City, we shouldn’t overlook the fact that this young individual has demonstrated significant potential at his peak.

Liverpool grows interest in Kalvin Phillips

During his time at Leeds, Phillips genuinely stood out as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League. His performances were so remarkable that Jamie Carragher even drew a comparison between him and Paul Scholes at a certain juncture.

The £45 million investment that Man City made to acquire him from Leeds was not without reason. Despite his limited impact at the Etihad thus far, there’s a sense that there’s untapped potential within him. Hence it is not surprising for Liverpool trying to make a move for him.

Consider the added element that he possesses a strong grasp of executing a high-pressing system, honed during his tutelage under Marcelo Bielsa. Taking this into account, it’s reasonable to speculate that his acquisition could indeed prove to be a valuable addition.
