Liverpool closing in to sign Luis Diaz from Porto FC

Fulham

Liverpool has received good news about Luis Diaz amid transfer rumours involving Tottenham. It was reported in January that Liverpool had agreed to pay around 50 million dollars for Luis. According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool has structured a deal and already submitted it to Porto.

However, Tottenham has also feigned interest in him in recent days. Unfortunately for Spurs, Record states that the winger has rejected a transfer to Tottenham to go to Liverpool.

The report states that Diaz expects Liverpool to make a move for him. Hence the 25-year-old has rejected Spurs to ensure his transfer to Liverpool.

How is Luis Diaz the perfect competition for Sadio Mane at Liverpool?

The Salah-Mane duo has created havoc in the Premier League. But in reality, Salah is in a league of his own.

Mohamed Salah has carried Liverpool’s goalscoring load for a long time. The Egyptian has scored 15 plus goals for 4 consecutive seasons in the league.

Sadio Mane on the other hand had his best season in the 2018/19 year when Liverpool won the league and the UCL. In that season, he scored 22 goals in the league in 32 games and had 5 goals and 3 assists in 13 Champions League games.

Even in the current season, he has just 8 goals and 1 assist in 20 league games. Whereas Salah on the other hand has 16 goals and 9 assists in 20 league games.

The difference between the two has become very noticeable over the years. Liverpool has focused on Luis Diaz because Mane is nowhere near his best as of now.

Luis Diaz has 16 goals and 6 assists in 28 league appearances. Luis indeed plays in a comparatively easier league.

However, it’s not just about finding a replacement for Salah or Mane. Liverpool has identified the excellent abilities which Luis possesses and are confident that he will perform in the Premier League.
