Kylian Mbappe labelled the former Chelsea target as the best

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has said that the former Chelsea target and the current PSG defender Achraf Hakimi is the best right-back in the world.

The 23-years-old grew up in Real Madrid academy La Fábrica and busted into the scene at the Santiago Bernabeu under the former manager Zinedine Zidane. However, the Frenchman didn’t fancy giving regular chances to the Moroccan and sent the defender to Borussia Dortmund on a two-year loan.

However, after showing his talent in Bundesliga, the Serie A champions Inter Milan signed the full-back last term. The defender made a great impression in his debut season at the San Siro stadium and played a big role in Antonio Conte’s side who won the Scudetto, scoring seven goals and notching up eight assists in 37 league appearances.

Following a great display in the Italian league, PSG and Chelsea showed interest to sign Achraf Hakimi. But, the Blues missed out on their opportunity to sign the talented youngster to Qatar owned PSG who spent around £51.3 million.

Meanwhile, the 23-years-old is currently on international duty in the Africa Cup of Nations and scored in the last two games. Both goals came in the crucial stages of the game. The excellent goal against Malawi from a free-kick in the last game helped his side to reach the quarterfinals of the competition.

Following this game, Kylian Mbappe tweeted that Achraf Hakimi is the best right-back in the world at the moment. He wrote:

Is Kylian Mbappe right about his assesment of the former Chelsea target Hakimi?

Chelsea boss Tuchel wanted to strengthen their wing-back position ahead of the season as they play with the 3-4-2-1 formation and the wing-backs are one of the biggest resources to attack the opposition.

Meanwhile, they enjoyed a good start to the season. But, following the injury to Ben Chilwell and Reece James, things have gone downhill for the west London club. Without James, they have lost the sharpness from the wide and Marcos Alonso has failed to fill the void of Chilwell.

During the absentees of both fullbacks, Tuchel had to change the system and has gone with back four in the last few games. Which has broken the dynamic of the team. So, missing out on Hakimi has turned out to be a big loss for Chelsea.
