Manchester

In the aftermath of Manchester United‘s triumph over Sheriff Tiraspol, Argentine youngster Alejandro Garnacho was voted Man of the Match.

The 18-year-old made his first competitive start that day. He played 79 minutes at Old Trafford during a 3-0 victory over Sheriff in the Europa league.

Garnacho seemed to have made a strong impression on both players and fans. He seems to have gained the approval of the Portuguese superstar, his teammate, and his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo made a point in walking off the pitch alongside Garnacho. Ronaldo also showed his approval of Garnacho’s performance in social media.

Manchester United congratulates Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho posted on Social media to say that he did not know if he was dreaming or not. Cristiano Ronaldo responded with just a fist-bump emoji, showing support for the teenager.

Ronaldo rarely responds to teammates’ Instagram posts. This was a strong indication of how much the Portuguese superstar respects his young colleague.

Ronaldo was not the only one, as other teammates also supported Garnacho on social media. Defender Lisandro Martinez sent a message, urging the teenager to ‘keep working’. Tyrell Malacia and Facundo Pellistri, alongside other members of United’s U21, also posted their support.

In the 79th minute, the teen was subbed off. The crowd gave him an ovation. He failed to cap off a skillful performance with a goal but had shown abilities worthy of a first-team spot.
