Leicester Officials Deny Youri Tielemans’ Rejection Of Contract.

Leicester City

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is optimistic about Youri Tielemans. The Belgian has less than 2 years left on his current contract.

He is linked with Manchester United, Liverpool and FC Barcelona.

Brendan Rodgers said in Daily Mail that
There are reports, but there’s [been] no turning down. I think there’s just dialogue between the club and Youri’s people. I think the club is waiting to hear back. But that’s something that’s out of my control. What I can control is his mentality, his commitment to the team, and you cannot question that

Tielemans joined Leicester on a loan but signed permanently in 2019/20. He plays a key role for the Foxes in the midfield. Often scores for them and has scored the FA cup final goal against Chelsea to secure the trophy.

Are Leicester a big 6 club?

For the past two years, the Foxes have finished fifth in the Premier League table securing the Europa League spot. Arsenal used to finish in the top 4 without ease but they have found it difficult for the top 6 also. Historically speaking Arsenal are clear of both Tottenham Hotspurs and Leicester. Despite their downfall, they are still the only team to have won the invincibles.

They have the most trophies after Manchester United and Liverpool.  Leicester cannot be called a big 6 but can be considered a big 6 team. Both spurs and Leicester have good current teams but not great history. Currently, Leicester and spurs along with United, City, Chelsea and Liverpool should be the new big 6. These teams are dominant in the league.

Ending their previous season on a high note winning the FA cup, Leicester has had a good start this season. They thrashed Manchester United 4-2 but currently sit 12th in the table. United are most likely to lose against Liverpool. This gives the other teams advantage as they will all contend for the 5th -7th place. Leicester can make it to 6th place provided they win against Brentford and Spurs lose against West ham.
