Jermaine Pennant feels Liverpool will make an incredible acquisition this summer in form of France international Khephren Thuram. Speaking on TalkSport, the former Liverpool player said that the 22-year-old midfielder might be an excellent signing for the Reds. This statement arrives amid continued claims that Thuram is an ideal target for Jurgen Klopp, with a deal perhaps in the works for next month.

Thuram, who is valued at £50 million, fulfils a lot of criteria for what Liverpool is looking for in a young midfielder. In addition the Ligue 1 talent appears to have piqued the interest of Pennant. He feels that the youngster is of the same calibre as Anfield veteran Steven Gerrard. However no player will ever be able to match the legendary stature of Gerrard at Liverpool. Still Thuram has the ability to develop into a world-class midfielder on Merseyside.

Pennant said: “There are talks of them getting Kephran Thuram. If that happens it will be an amazing signing. Apparently, there is talks being advanced.”

“He’s like a box-to-box midfielder, he scores goals and he can go past players. I’m not going to put him to Steven Gerrard but if I can say what kind of mould he’s in, he’s one of those players. He’s technically gifted, strong and quick and also has an eye for goal. That would be amazingly well alongside Mac Allister.”
