FC Barcelona has initiated talks with Xavi to make him the manager. Currently, Serge Barujan is the interim coach.
Despite rumours stating that Al Sadd will not let go of Xavi, Barcelona will try their best.
According to Diario AS, Al Sadd’s president has invited Joan Laporta to meet him. The club has requested to keep Xavi for their next three matches.
Barcelona will have to pay a compensation fee of £1 million if they want Xavi before those three matches.
The club will already have to pay the remaining amount to ex-manager Ronald Koeman.
Xavi shortlists targets for Barcelona.
According to El Nacional, Xavi has requested major signings to improve the current squad.
The request does not come as a surprise because Barcelona cannot defend or attack consistently.
Erling Haaland
The Norwegian was linked with the club in the past but the club could not meet the financial demands.
He is in great form since last season and is a consistent goalscorer. He is a gifted player and has amazing positional awareness for his age. Haaland has 13 goals and 4 assists in just 10 games.
Dani Olmo
The La Masia graduate was linked with the club last summer. Barcelona inquired for him a day before the transfer window closed but the fee was £70 million.
The winger is aware of the club’s playstyle and morale. Since Ousmane Dembele is prone to injuries, Dani Olmo is a good option.
Jules Kounde
Many European clubs are monitoring the centre back. He has started in all matches for Sevilla and is an excellent prospect.
Barcelona is not the only club interested in him with Madrid and Chelsea also eyeing him. If it comes to a bidding war, Barcelona will not go all out for Kounde.
Will FC Barcelona actually make these signings?
Barcelona is in debt. The club captains Pique, Roberto and Alba have taken pay cuts.
The club will not be in a financial drought forever and can sign players in the next 2-3 years.
As of now the only way possible to introduce new signings is to let go of some players.
Ousmane Dembele and Phillippe Coutinho are two players who have struggled at Barca. These players can generate funds as they are valuable in the transfer market.
