Will Raheem Sterling leave City because of lack of playing time?

About Football Express UK

Raheem Sterling may leave Manchester City because of lack of game time. The England international left Liverpool and joined City in 2015.

Raheem Sterling has played the most minutes under Pep Guardiola. Ever since 2020, his form has dropped considerably. Phil Foden, Grealish, Mahrez are all performing better than him.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal is interested in Raheem Sterling. Manchester City is reportedly valuing Sterling at €80 million.

Even Liverpool have a slight interest in them but they will not move on Sterling. They will only try if one of Salah, Mane and Firmino might leave.

FC Barcelona is also interested as they want to increase their attacking options. They might not be able to buy him because of his hefty price.

Is Raheem Sterling going to hit his prime again?

The England international is 27 years old and is supposed to be in his prime. From 2018/19 to 2019/20, he has performed consistently for 2 seasons. After that, his performance went downhill.

In 2018/19 he had a G/A of 43 in 57 games and in 2019/20 he had a G/A of 41 in 50 games.

He won the PFA Young Player Of The Year in 2018/19. Sterling was also named in the PFA Team Of The Year in the same season.

After receiving lots of criticism. Despite not being able to perform well for the club, he played well for England. He was the top scorer for England in the Euro 2020 tournament.

Overall Raheem Sterling has at times been a very influential player but at the same time average. He is inconsistent and his shoddy performances and over expectations often shadow his great performances.

If given enough game time and under a good system like Pep’s then Sterling might perform consistently again.
