Everton manager Frank Lampard has revealed that his first message to his players will be to tell them to show passion for the fans.

The transfer deadline day seemed to be interesting for Everton as they officially revealed Frank Lampard as their manager. Moreover, they also managed to sign Dele Alli and loanee Donny van de Beek on the deadline day.

Lampard replaced Rafa Benitez on the deadline day due to the latter’s poor results.

The former Chelsea manager addressed what he feels about the players and fans. He also suggested what his players must do to get their club back to winning ways.

Indeed, when talking to the club’s media during his first full interview, Lampard pointed out many issues to be fixed. He explained that the relationship between the players and fans was a big issue that needed to be fixed immediately. He outlined his thoughts on the matter, saying:

“It will be hugely important. I always felt it as a player, I felt that the passion and support of the crowd can swing a game. [With] the competitive level that the Premier League brings, the position we are in the table, we certainly need that.

It’s a two-way thing. The players have to show that on the pitch. They have to show the same passion that every fan who turns up to watch the game.

That’ll be my first job and my first message to the players – that we have to do it together. These things can’t be done without the support both ways. So we’ll try and do our job, and I know the fans will be there backing us.”

Indeed without a doubt, there is a disconnect between the players and the fans going to the Goodison Park crowd. This spoiled relationship was a big issue under former boss Rafael Benitez.

Meanwhile, there were multiple times when the relationship between the Spaniard and his supposed fans seemed fractious at best. Even anti-Benitez chants were noticed in reference to his Liverpool past.

However, ex-Chelsea legend Lampard considers lifting up the atmosphere around the club. Moreover, with the talented squad, Everton can soon rise back up the Premier League table.  They can surely get closer to where they aim to be.
