Erik ten Hag hints Man Utd stars could return vs Burnley

Manchester United

Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag has hinted that four players could make their comebacks during tomorrow’s League clash against Burnley

The Red Devils have had a dreadful start to the season and they recently suffered a third-straight defeat. The club lost 4-3 at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

They have the opportunity to return to winning ways against struggling Clarets and ahead of the game, the manager has provided an update on four first-team stars.

Stars that can make return

Harry Maguire did not make the squad in midweek with a minor injury while Mason Mount, Raphael Varane and Sofyan Amrabat were not involved due to fitness reasons.

All four of them will be training in the afternoon session, and Ten Hag has told reporters that a decision will be made on their availability following the final preparation.

He told Manutd.com: “Maybe, as you say, Harry Maguire. We will see better after training [on Friday afternoon]. But Varane will train and we will see. Amrabat, he will train and we will see. Mount, as well, but they all didn’t play for a short or longer term. Varane, obviously, was the shortest [time] out.”

Man utd have had a forgettable start in the Premier League, securing only six points from five matches. The club are already seven points behind the final Champions League spot.

The upcoming game offers them the opportunity to close the gap on the top four as Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur face each other.

Meanwhile, Burnley have had a tough return to the top-flight with 12 goals conceded in four matches.

United need to play on the front foot to unsettle a vulnerable Clarets backline. Anything less than a victory would be a bad result.
