Edson Alvarez set to pen a 5 year deal with West Ham United

Flamengo is not in touch

Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Edson Alvarez has made his mind to join West Ham. Edson Alvarez of Ajax has received a £25 million opening offer from West Ham. On Saturday, negotiations were still going on but Ajax may settle for a price of $30 million. The 25-year-old is now on vacation in Mexico, but if a fee is agreed upon, he is prepared to fly to London to perform medical tests.

Edson Alvarez will join West Ham United this summer

David Moyes, the manager of the Hammers, feels a dire need of a couple of fresh additions before the forthcoming Premier League season begins the following weekend. Alvarez is a committed, hard-tackling midfielder who possesses everything West Ham manager David Moyes needs. He competes with his heart on his sleeve, which is characteristically Mexican, therefore he should fit in wonderfully into the English Premier League. Alvarez is about to become David Moyes’ first summer acquisition. Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund have both expressed interest in the player. However A five-year contract costing an estimated £148,000 per week after taxes has already been agreed upon by his representatives. In addition, verbal agreement is also done as stated by @FabrizioRomano. There are talks about a contract until 2027 or 2028.

Several Dutch media reports stated the same thing as Romano. For instance according to De Telegraaf, “The Mexican star might be on the verge of joining the Hammers”. The 25-year-old will be a great addition for West Ham this summer. Ajax is reportedly holding out for more than €40 million, while the Hammers have reportedly offered €30 million for Alvarez. We can anticipate that the two parties will eventually come together somewhere in the centre, probably at about the $32-million mark.

Edson Alvarez, a midfielder for Ajax, is a player that West Ham is optimistic in landing. However before the season starts, they are hoping to fix things up between coach David Moyes and Tim Steidten, the club’s technical director. Steidten and Moyes disagreed on West Ham’s targets after the club sold Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105 million. West Ham are now seeking two midfielders, a left-back, a left winger, and a center-back.
