Pep Guardiola has been criticized after Manchester City’s loss to Liverpool.
What went wrong for Man City against Liverpool?
After the Anfield loss City are four points behind table toppers Arsenal. Even though the Champions had a good start to the league they couldn’t secure all three points against Liverpool.
City failed to score on Sunday against Liverpool. After scoring in the first half, the goal was disallowed by Anthony Taylor who was the referee for the game. In the 76th minute, Alisson from his own penalty area kicked the ball toward Mo Salah who scored the only goal of the match.
Speaking to Sky Sports, former Man-City defender Danny Millis on Pep Guardiola said,
” It’s not really been talked about but, Man City, Pep overthinking it? Over-tinkering? The first 15-20 minutes I couldn’t work out their formation.”
He added,
” “This gets labelled at Guardiola quite a bit. He’s one of the best coaches the world has ever seen, but we’ve seen it in big games, he overthinks it at times. He changed the formation to something they don’t really play.
“There were several examples in the first half where they were breaking away and Liverpool had the extra man going forward. Once you get your tails up, it’s very difficult for Man City to come back from that.”
Man – City will face Brighton in their next Premier League match.
