Crystal Palace 1-3 Liverpool: the Reds player ratings

About Football Express UK

Player ratings: Liverpool came away victorious by 3-1 at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace in a crucial Premier League encounter on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors dominated the first half and were already up by 2-0, courtesy of the contribution from Virgil Van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Eagles came into the game brilliantly and started the second half in a blistering manner.

They scored one back thanks to the goal from Odsonne Edouard. But, in the end, Jurgen Klopp’s side scored another goal with the help of a controversial VAR penalty decision which was converted by Fabinho.

Following this victory, Liverpool closed the gap at the top with Manchester City and are currently sitting in second with 48 points in 22 games, nine points behind the league leader with a game in hand.

Liverpool player ratings against Crystal Palace:

Alisson – 6.5/10

There were consistent threats from the opposition throughout the game but didn’t have to do a lot throughout the game apart from a couple of crucial saves.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6/10

Wasn’t at his best and failed to produce his trademark crosses from the wide.

Joel Matip – 6/10

Made a bad error which thankfully didn’t go in and overall not his best of performances.

Virgil Van Dijk – 7/10

Scored the opener but failed to mark his man on Palace’s goal.

Andrew Robertson – 8/10

Assisted the first two goals and overall a great performance from the Scotsman.

Fabinho – 7/10

Scored the penalty in the absence of Mohamed Salah but failed to protect the back four as the opposition had plenty of good chances behind the backline.

Jordan Henderson – 6.5/10

Displayed an energetic performance but didn’t enjoy a great time in the second half.

Curtis Jones – 6/10

Very tidy with the ball but needs to improve more to keep his place in the squad.

Diogo Jota – 6/10

Wasn’t his best game and failed to impact the game but won the penalty in the crucial moment of the game.

Roberto Firmino – 6/10

He continues to struggle and this was yet another uninfluential performance from the Brazilian.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7/10

Scored the second goal for his side but didn’t have a great time and was taken off early in the second half.

Substitute:

Takumi Minamino – 6/10

Showed energy without the possession but failed to impact the game.

James Milner – N/A

Came very late in the game and didn’t have enough time to influence the game.

Joe Gomez – N/A

Same for him as well had very little time to make his mark in this fixture.
