Chelsea had shown interest in signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla. They were very close to sealing the deal however Barcelona hijacked Kounde. Kounde is a Barcelona player as of the moment and Chelsea have lost the race. As such, Chelsea needs to sign at least one more center back this transfer window.
Chelsea have lost two of their first-choice center backs in the Summer as Andres Christensen and Antonio Rudiger left the club to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively. Both players were a vital part of Tuchel’s squad that won the Champions League a couple of years ago. Chelsea needs to find a new defensive duo for the new season.
Chelsea have managed to get the services of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. Although it is just one signing and Chelsea needs at least one more signing. While Tuchel reiterates that Chelsea requires at least two more signings.
Chelsea and Tuchel could have to settle for a single signing as the transfer window closes soon. Chelsea have turned to Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana as the club are in a dire financial situation and are looking to sell their players. Although Chelsea might have a difficult time dealing with both the player and the club as he has extended his contract.
Fofana is young and is a potential future prospect for Leicester City. Moreover, Leicester City have understood his potential and has rightfully extended his contract by adding five more years. Leicester City would not be willing to trade away such a valuable player. Even if Leicester are willing to sell, Chelsea will have a really difficult time finding a perfect price for the player with the contract he has. Although The Blues could try and Fofana is a really good player.
