Chelsea legend César Azpilicueta will reportedly join Atletico Madrid on a free transfer. The family of the player also wants to move back to Spain.
Italian giants Inter Milan also had full agreement with the player. However. the player wants to move to Spain after an offer from the La Liga giants.
CHELSEA HAPPY TO LET GO OF CESAR AZPILICUETA ON A FREE TRANSFER
According to reports, Chelsea last season’s captain Cesar Azpilicueta will join Atletico Madrid on a free transfer. The player had a verbal agreement with Inter Milan. However, it looks like Atletico’s offer has changed his minds. The player’s family is also pushing him to accept a move back to Spain. Hence, it looks like Inter Milan will not get the player.
Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta has also said that they are waiting for Cesar’s final answer. He further said on the Chelsea captain, “I will not deny that Ausilio, Baccin and I had Azpilicueta as a player we like, as apart from his technical characteristics, he has great experience and a winning mentality for the locker room. However, he is Spanish, it seems he is intrigued by some proposals from Spain, so naturally he is evaluating it. That is only normal and we respectfully wait for his response”.

According to reports, Cesar Azpilicueta also had chances to leave the club last season. However, Chelsea senior figures requested him to stay. He also had the chance to move to Barcelona. However, he decided to stay put last season. Although, the club will now play under Mauricio Pochettino. Hence, the Blues are now in a better place for the upcoming season.
Hence, Chelsea are now ready to let him go to another club. They are also ready to let him go on a free transfer to respect his contributions for the club. Therefore, the Blues will not interfere on any possible deal for their club captain. The report also claims that Atletico Madrid also have full verbal agreement with the player.
Therefore, Chelsea will let him move to Inter Milan or Atletico Madrid. The player is likely going to make a move to the La Liga side. However, the race remains open for the Serie A side till the player signs on the dotted line and seals the deal with La Liga giants instead.
