Chelsea injury update: When will the key players return?

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino could potentially reintegrate a trio of players back into his squad. Following the conclusion of the September international break.

During the two-week break, several Chelsea players are to join their national teams for international duty. Meanwhile, a select group, including Raheem Sterling, Robert Sanchez, and Thiago Silva, will stay at Cobham. Armando Broja, Reece James, and Benoit Badiashile are another group of players who will be in training over the next two weeks. Aiming to recover from injuries, with a clear return game now identified for the latter.

Injury updates on some key Chelsea players

Benoît Badiashile suffered a hamstring injury at the end of the 2022/23 season. He missed the opening weeks of the current season, is on the verge of making his return. According to information obtained from football.london, Chelsea anticipates having Badiashile available for selection in their Premier League clash with Bournemouth following the international break.

Romeo Lavia has not yet made an appearance for Chelsea. Since, Pochettino is keen for him to reach the same fitness level as the rest of the squad before he is in the team.

Reece James is still in the process of recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in training. He recently shared a message on his Instagram, assuring supporters that he would return “better.” Additionally, he was at Stamford Bridge during the Luton match. There he was alongside Todd Boehly, John Terry, and Romeo Lavia.

Christopher Nkunku has been out of action since the club’s final pre-season game against Borussia Dortmund. This is a significant setback for the Blues’ squad, especially considering his hefty summer arrival fee of over £60 million. Pochettino acknowledged that Nkunku would be sorely missed during the first half of the season.
