Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella could leave the club

Chelsea

Journalist Paul Brown has claimed that Marc Cucurella is aware that his future at Chelsea is not looking bright right now.

He told GiveMeSport that the Spaniard is aware that he is not currently part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at Stamford Bridge.

It looked for all the world as if Cucurella was going to be on the move late in the transfer window.

However, a loan move to Manchester United collapsed, and he remains in West London despite being way off the first team.

Ben Chilwell is the clear first choice in the side, and he is being closely pushed for minutes by Ian Maatsen.

The Blues are hoping the Dutchman signs a new contract in order to secure his services for the foreseeable future.

This makes things difficult for Cucurella,

who has struggled greatly with the pressure that came with his £60m move from Brighton.

What does Brown thinks

Brown has now claimed that the player is actually aware that his future is not bright right now.

He said: “Yeah, the window ended in a very strange way for Cucurella,

Because I think he genuinely believed he was on his way to Man United,

Then he suddenly ended up playing in that cup game, and the move kind of fell apart after that.

“So I think he’s been left very much in limbo. He was told he could go, but it didn’t happen.

So he knows now that he is not really among those players that the manager wants to use,

it’s going to be difficult for him.

“The window is still open in other countries, whether somebody else comes in for him.

That’s still possible too, but it’s hard to see him forcing his way into the Chelsea team.

He’s going to have to hope for a couple of injuries.

I think to get back in and get a run.”
