Chelsea to recall Armando Broja from Southampton?

About Football Express UK

The Blues are considering recalling Armando Broja from Southampton.

According to Goal, The Blues have a buyback clause inserted in the contract. They can activate it in the next transfer window. Thomas Tuchel wants to bring the striker because he wants him to compete with Lukaku and Timo Werner.

Currently, Chelsea is without both Lukaku and Timo Werner as they are injured. Armando Broja scored three goals for Chelsea in the pre-season. Initially, he impressed a lot after scoring 11 goals in 32 appearances for Vitesse in 2020/21.

How could Chelsea line up with Broja?

The Blues have immense squad depth. The likes of a talented youngster like Broja will strengthen their ranks.

Thomas Tuchel used to play Timo Werner on the left and Mason Mount on the right-wing. With Lukaku upfront to make use of the chances created. Even in their absence, The Blues continue to keep winning.

If Broja continues to impress, he will provide competition not only to Werner but also to Havertz and Hudson Odoi. Thomas Tuchel often plays them as a False 9 or as a CF. The midfield position at Chelsea is fixed with Kovacic, Jorginho and N’golo Kante.

What would this transfer mean for Timo Werner?

Lukaku is a favoured player to start every game. Since he is clinical and tries to make the best of every chance.  At Inter Milan, the duo of Lautaro Martinez and Lukaku was formidable. This implies that he can excel even more with another striker. Thomas Tuchel already thought of this but Timo Werner is still not able to pay upfront. In the Bundesliga, he was a CF but now he plays on the wing using his pace to create space.

Thomas Tuchel plays a back three with two wing-backs providing support offensively and defensively. Mount can be played as a CAM with Lukaku and Broja upfront.

This formation can only happen if Broja impresses Thomas Tuchel.
