Just as the title race is becoming intense and interesting in the Premier League, there are few upsets for the Champions. Man City face injury challenge before their upcoming tough fixture list in November. Despite having a star studded lineup and no shortage of elite players, Man City might face some performance issues with their squad looking at the caliber of the opponents they are up against.
Injury scare at Man City
Man City have been plagued with injuries of their most important players recently. The injury blow to Kevin De Bruyne was deemed to be catastrophic for the Treble winning side. De Bruyne being the captain and the main playmaker of the team was a big loss for the Manchester side. After the injury to De Bruyne, now John Stones has been reportedly taken a knock. The English Centre back can be out for “some while” due to muscular problems. Stones missed the start of the season due to a hip injury and only returned in October. Manuel Akanji also being one of the injured stars at Man city squad adds to Pep Guardiola’s worries.
Tough Fixtures incoming
Man City’s next opponents are Chelsea, in the Premier League. Despite the poor form of Chelsea this season. They’ve received morale boost by the 4-1 win over the League leaders Spurs. Absence of defensive prowess with the likes of Akanji and Stones might make Pep’s choice limited in the defensive area. The most important fixture coming up is with title contenders Liverpool. City face Liverpool at the end of the month and without quality defensive and attacking options from the squad. This could be a interesting match for the race of the Premier League title 2023/24. As it may become the match which decides the top 3 or maybe even the title.
