Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has told reporters that he will contact Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Arsenal striker was stripped of the club captaincy role after a disciplinary breach earlier this week.
Thomas Tuchel was speaking during his press conference before the match against Everton. The German was asked whether he will contact Aubameyang to talk about him losing the captaincy.
Aubameyang was one of the key players for Thomas Tuchel when both of them were part of Borussia Dortmund. The striker helped Tuchel to earn his first-ever major trophy as a manager when they won DFB Pokal in 2017.
TUCHEL TO TALK TO AUBAMEYANG
The Chelsea boss admits that he felt sorry for his former player. Tuchel told that he will contact Aubameyang sometime in the future and have a talk with him about the issue.
“I will at some point andI feel sorry that he is in trouble. I believe in his positive character but I am not involved in this situation or his club. It is just about my picture & relationship”.
The Gabonese international made a disciplinary breach when he came late from a trip. This resulted in the Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta not including him in the squad for the match against West Ham United.
This was also not the first time Aubameyang has made disciplinary breaches. This forces both Arteta and the club to take strict action and it looks like the 32-year-old will miss the next match against Leeds as well.
END OF TIME AT ARSENAL?
Having lost his captaincy, there are now questions raised about his future with Arsenal. Aubmeyang has been performing very poorly for some time. It is also no secret that Arsenal is in the market to find a replacement for him.
While Arteta has not ruled out the possibility of Aubameyang returning to the team, it now looks very difficult. The player now looks set t move away from Arsenal as early as in the winter transfer window
Though Thomas Tuchel did say he will contact Aubameyang. This does not mean Chelsea will try to sign him. Firstly Chelsea just brought in Romelu Lukaku for such a high fee in the summer. The club does have other areas and contracts to take care of and the Arsenal striker is not the priority.
One side that is looking to sign him however is Barcelona. The Spanish giants are struggling at the moment. The untimely retirement of summer signing Sergio Aguero also means that the club requires attacking reinforcement.
Other clubs across Europe could also look into the situation. Unless something drastic happens, it looks like the ex-Arsenal captain could be soon leaving his club.
