Denayer was a regular centre-back for the Lyons.

The sight of the Brazilian defender Diego Carlos limping off at Villa Park’s pitch was not good. Diego Carlos signed the English side for £26 million from Spanish club Sevilla in the summer transfer window. The Brazilian will spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines then on the pitch due to his serious injuries. Diego Carlos has ruptured the Achilles tendon in his left ankle and is expected to return the Villa Park after a period of seven to nine months out.
