Arteta reveals Arsenal’s plan of rebuilding the squad with young talents

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed the club’s plan of rebuilding the team with the perfect blend of youth and experience.

Despite starting the season on a disappointing note, the north London club has improved immensely and are eyeing a finish in the top four spots. The Gunners displayed a pretty impressive performance this season towards the end of last year. However, they have struggled to score goals since the start of the new year.

Arteta’s side has only scored one goal this year and has failed to break the deadlock over the past four games in all competitions. So, scoring goals has been the point of concern for the Emirates club at this stage of the campaign.

However, the north London club has shown signs of improvement under Arteta. And their young core group of players are displaying promising performances to become an integral part of the Spanish boss’ system.

What did Arteta say about the club’s planning?

Speaking with the club’s media. Arteta stated that it is not a coincidence that they have the youngest squad this season as they planned at the start of the season that it will be the right way going forward. Arteta said:

“We have the youngest squad in the league and that is not a coincidence, we planned to do something like that because we had to rebuild something as well that we believe in. We have a squad full of enthusiasm and passion, but with the right amount of quality and experience as well, which I think is very much needed.

“So we are really looking forward to [the run-in], we know what the aim is at the end of the season, where we want to be: it’s high but it’s possible and we’re going to have a real go in the second half of the season to achieve it.”

So, it will be interesting to see how much progress Arsenal can achieve this season. They are currently two points behind the fourth-placed Manchester United with a game in hand. However, given they lack quality in their striker department. It will be tough for Arteta to guide his team to a top-four finish this season.
