Arsenal defender Takheiro Tomiyasu suffers injury in the game against Sporting C.P

Arsenal Team

Arsenal lost the game against Sporting C.P in the Europa League. Hence, the Gunners will not progress to the Quarter Finals like their rivals Manchester United.

Although, it looks like Gunners also have the problem of injuries. Both Tomiyasu and William Saliba were forced to go off within 20 minutes of the game.

ARSENAL DEFENDERS NEED TO QUICKLY RECOVER FROM THEIR INJURIES

Arsenal lost their round of 16 game against Sporting C.P. The game started 2-2 from the away leg. However, at the 19th minute, Granit Xhaka gave the Gunners lead. However, in the 62nd minute, Pedro Goncalves scored a brilliant goal from his own half. Hence, the game went to penalties. Gabriel Martinelli missed the only penalty for the Gunners. Whereas, Sporting scored all their penalties.

However, the loss is the minor problem at the moment for the Gunners. The big problem for Arsenal is the injuries during the game. Both Takheiro Tomiyasu and William Saliba suffered injuries within the 20 minutes. Hence, Arteta will hope that the injuries are not serious. Former Fulham and Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer also said, “Looks devastated does Takheiro Tomiyasu. It was just a really unfortunate fall from him as he got his studs stuck in the ground,”.

MIKEL ARTETA HAS TO WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE TO SALVAGE THIS SEASON

The elimination of Arsenal from the Europa League means that the only trophy they can win this season is the Premier League. They are currently top of the table. The Gunners are five points clear of second-placed Manchester City. Hence, the Gunners need to make sure that they win the Premier League this season.

This is because, if they do not win it, it will not be a good season for Arsenal. This will also potentially reduce their summer transfer window budget. Hence, winning the Premier League will benefit their ambitions and their financial advantages in the next season. Many rival fans expect the Gunners to make some mistakes at some point.

Hence, Arsenal will hope that they can prove the rival fans wrong. They will also hope that the Saliba and Tomiyasu injuries are only minor injuries. The Gunners also have the chance to gain a eight-point lead over Manchester City. City have no Premier League as they face Burnley in the FA Cup quarter-final.
