Another Wout Weghorst mistake could be on its way in January for Manchester United.

Manchester United

Manchester United signed Wout Weghorst from Burnley last season on a loan. Moreover, the Red Devils brought him as a potential replacement for the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo left for Saudi side Al Nasr after falling out with the squad’s management. Man United even signed Rasmus Hojlund to make up for the gap left by Ronaldo for a perfect striker. However, the Denmark international hasn’t been able to deliver for the club in the premier league. Although he’s got a good record for them in the champions league, scoring 5 goals for the team. On the other hand, Weghorst hasn’t been able to score more than 2 goals for Man United in his total 17 appearances for the club.

According to footballfancast, Netherlands legend Ruud Gullit believes that United made a mistake by signing Weghorst. He’s not the player who’s suitable for Erik Ten Hag’s playing style. Moreover, Weghorst could’ve been a better performer in another club. In the meanwhile, several reports have emerged out stating that United are looking to sign Youssef En-Nesyri. The Morroco international was exceptional against Manchester United when they played Sevilla in last year’s Europa league. He even scored a brace against Erik Ten Hag’s men. Neysri has a contract with Sevilla till 2025. However, he could make a move to England for an affordable sum of £16 million if United go for him in January.

Another Wout Weghorst mistake could be on its way if United sign En-Nesyri.

Although Youssef En-Nesyri has been impressive for the Spanish giants, but is it worth it for United to spend £16 million on him? Even if we agree that he’s a prolific goalscorer, there’s a lot of other factors that are needed to be taken into consideration before signing him. The Morroco international scored 18 goals in all competitions last season. That’s pretty impressive right? Okay, check this out then. He scored only 5 goals in 29 appearances for Sevilla in the 2021-22 season. That shows his level of inconsistency. If United are eyeing to have a better start to the second half of the season, they should avoid this transfer at all costs.
